Manhattan Beach Monthly Crime Report: Assaults, Car Thefts, Vehicle Burglaries All Up

There were 4,400 calls for service and 67 arrests made in Manhattan Beach during March, according to the city's latest monthly crime summary.

The highest category of crimes was larcenies (non-vehicle burglaries), of which there were 30 in the city last month. The number was actually down by four from the prior month.

Sixteen vehicle burglaries were also reported in March, up from 13 the month before. Of the 16 vehicle burglaries, eight were thefts from unlocked vehicles; two were “surfer burg" thefts; and one each was theft from an unlocked vehicle; theft from an open truck bed; a door pried open; a stolen spare tire; a stolen tailgate; and a stolen catalytic converter.

Eight assaults and eight car thefts were reported, an increase of five and seven, respectively, from the month before.

Four robberies and one business burglary were also reported, with each number being the same as the month before.
