Manhattan Beach To Unveil Rainbow Crosswalk
On June 14, local leaders will celebrate the opening of a rainbow crosswalk on Manhattan Beach Boulevard and the Strand.
MANHATTAN BEACH, CA — Manhattan Beach will unveil a rainbow crossing at Manhattan Beach Boulevard and the Strand on Tuesday, June 14 at 5 p.m., the city said in a news release.
The event will feature a ribbon cutting and remarks by incoming Mayor Steve Napolitano and guest speakers.
“The rainbow crosswalk represents the City's commitment to inclusivity for all its residents,” Mayor Hildy Stern said in a statement. “This ribbon cutting event has special meaning during Pride Month. It is an opportunity for our community to come together to support the LGBTQ+ community as we strive to be a welcoming city that assures everyone feels valued, safe, and supported.”

The Manhattan Beach City Council approved the rainbow crosswalk design inspired by the waves from the official city logo on April 19, 2022. The crosswalk was funded by $50,000 from the Public Art Trust.
