MBPD Hosts Community Safety Meeting In Response To Rape

The meeting to discuss safety and crime prevention will be tonight at the Joslyn Center.

MANHATTAN BEACH, CA – Manhattan Beach police are hosting a community meeting at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Joslyn Center to discuss community safety and crime prevention. The meeting is in response to a victim who was raped in her Manhattan Beach home in late August.

The victim told police she arrived home around 8:30 p.m., and shortly after, a male suspect entered her home through the front door. The suspect then sexually assaulted and raped the victim before leaving through the front door and out of sight, police said. It's unknown if the suspect fled the location on foot or in a vehicle, MBPD said.

The victim wasn't physically injured, but she was transported to the hospital for a sexual assault evaluation. The suspect is described as a black male in his early 40s with an athletic build, clean-cut, 6'2" tall, medium complexion, possible thin mustache, according to police. He was wearing tan shorts, a dark t-shirt and gray tennis shoes.
