9 Injured In Grisly Crash After Hawthorne Police Pursuit
Four children were among those injured in the crash: BREAKING

MANHATTAN BEACH, CA – A police pursuit ended in a multi-vehicle crash in the Hawthorne area Thursday, authorities said. Five adults and four children were injured and taken to various hospitals for treatment, county fire Inspector Randall Wright said. At least one person was ejected from a vehicle, and two people were reportedly trapped in the wreckage for a time.
At approximately 10:46 AM, a witness reported a residential burglary occurring in the 1100 block of 18th Street in Manhattan Beach. The witness provided police with a description of the suspect vehicle and a traffic stop was initiated – when the driver of the vehicle failed to yield, a pursuit ensued eastbound on Marine Avenue. During the pursuit, two suspects jumped out of the vehicle and ran towards a hotel in the 2400 block of Marine Avenue in Redondo Beach.
The suspect driver continued eastbound on Marine Avenue where he failed to stop for a red light at Prairie Avenue and collided with a vehicle traveling northbound on the same street. The suspect was taken into custody and the Hawthorne Police Department is investigating the collision.

A search is currently underway for the two suspects that fled the vehicle in the 2400 block of Marine Avenue. If you observe suspicious activity in the area, please contact police dispatch at 9-1-1.
