Parking Meter Rates To Increase In Manhattan Beach
Parking will be a little more expensive at on-street locations, city-owned lots and state/county-owned lots starting Nov. 15.

MANHATTAN BEACH, CA – Parking is about to get more expensive in Manhattan Beach. Starting Nov. 15, the city will increase parking meter rates at on-street locations, city-owned lots and state/county-owned lots, the City of Manhattan Beach announced Monday.
The approved parking meter rate increases are summarized below:
- $1.75 per hour at any street parking meter
- $1.50 per hour within city-owned lots
- $2.00 per hour in state/county-owned lots (beach parking)
These new rates are an increase of $0.75 per hour for city-owned lots, and $0.50 per hour for street meters and meters in state/county lots.

The parking meter rate increases were inspected by the Downtown Business and Professionals Association, the North Manhattan Beach Business Improvement District, the Manhattan Beach Chamber of Commerce, the Los Angeles County Department of Beaches and Harbors, the Parking and Public Improvements Commission, the Manhattan Beach City Council and the California Coastal Commission, the press release said.
"The City of Manhattan Beach conducted a survey of local southern California cities to evaluate comparable parking meter rates," the press release said. "The high price points for parking in prime areas among various local cities was up to $2.50 per hour for street parking and up to $6.00 per hour in lots. The parking meter increases will make Manhattan Beach rates comparable with other local cities."

The city estimates an annual net increase of $1.85 million per year in revenue from the parking meter increases, the press release said. Revenues will primarily be used to operate and maintain the ten public parking lots within the city (which include 836 spaces), 440 on-street parking meters and maintenance for Metlox Plaza and the Civic Center Plaza, the City of Manhattan Beach press release said.
