Possible Robbery Turns Into Police Chase Through Beach Cities

The Manhattan Beach Police Department arrested two people in connection to a robbery at a local Vons on Thursday.

MANHATTAN BEACH, CA — Two people were arrested Thursday afternoon after Manhattan Beach Police Department officers said a possible robbery at a local Vons turned into a chase.

According to MBPD, officers responded to a reported robbery at the Vons and were able to detain one suspect immediately, but a second suspect fled in a vehicle. Officers pursued the vehicle through Hermosa Beach and Redondo Beach until, according to authorities, the suspect crashed the car and continued to flee on foot.

'The suspect was ultimately found hiding in a trash can and made the smart choice to give up at the request of a barking police dog!" MBPD said in a statement on Facebook.
