Road Closures Ahead For Tour De Pier In Manhattan Beach

MANHATTAN BEACH, CA — Thousands of people will take over the Manhattan Beach Pier on Sunday to raise money for cancer research as part of the Sketchers Tour de Pier.

The following streets and parking lots will be closed during the May 19 event:

  • Manhattan Beach Boulevard and Ocean Drive from 11th Place to Center Place will be closed from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Lower Pier parking lots close on Saturday, May 18 at 6 a.m.
  • Upper Pier parking lots will close on Saturday at 11 a.m.

The award-winning charity event will benefit three organizations that work to advance cancer
research and provide multi-layer support services: The Hirshberg Foundation for Pancreatic Cancer Research, Cancer Support Community South Bay and the Uncle Kory Foundation for Brain Cancer Research.

"Overlooking SoCal’s breathtaking Pacific Ocean view, the Tour de Pier brings one of the hottest indoor fitness activities of stationary cycling to the gorgeous outdoors," officials said.

At the event, the area's best instructors and celebrity guests will spin riders through five 50-minute sessions with music and entertainment. Additionally, the free Health and Fitness Expo will feature a diverse gathering of vendors.
