Skechers Sues Competitor for Infringing on Its Design

Manhattan Beach-based footwear company Skechers USA Inc. is suing a rival for allegedly infringing on seven of its patented designs for walking shoes.

The suit, filed in federal court in Los Angeles against DB Shoe Co., seeks compensatory and punitive damages as well as injunctive relief against the San Francisco shoe company for allegedly infringing on Skechers’ Go Walk line.

Skechers contends DB is selling the products under the name Super Dream Walk 816.

A spokesman for DB could not immediately be reached for comment after business hours.

“Skechers has invested tremendous resources into designing, developing and advertising our Skechers Go Walk product line,” said David Weinberg, Skechers’ chief operating officer.

“We will not allow our competitors and retailers to infringe on one of our most valuable intellectual properties, and we will continue to enforce our intellectual property rights against any company that develops footwear that infringes on the designs of Skechers Go Walk as well as our other proprietary product lines,” he said.
