South Bay by Jackie Weekend Guide February 27, 2020

The South Bay by Jackie Weekend Guide offers comprehensive coverage of the greater South Bay area.

Every week on The South Bay Show podcast, we feature topics specific to the South Bay, and this time of year, we always invite a local tax accountant as our guest to go over the new tax laws. This year, there are a couple of new regulations that will affect many of us. Did you know that for the first time, post-dating your tax return by April 15 is no longer accepted? Now, the IRS and Franchise Tax Board must RECEIVE your tax return by April 15. This won’t affect you if you e-file by April 15 (which I believe most of us do), BUT, if you know anyone that still mails in their return, you might want to tell them to do it at least a week or ten days in advance. Then there’s the whole kerfuffle about AB5, which will affect many industries and businesses. Who is an ‘independent contractor’ and who isn’t? You need to figure that out before you file! For more insight, you can listen to the podcast at https://www.southbaybyjackie.com/tax-time-sylvia-gayed-manhattan-tax-accounting/.
