South Bay Octogenarian Who Was Assaulted, Robbed Dies
The octogenarian, a Navy veteran who served in the Korean War, was walking in his neighborhood when he was attacked and robbed, police said.

CARSON, CA — An 85-year-old man who was assaulted and robbed last week in Carson died from his injuries Wednesday after being in a coma, authorities said.
The octogenarian was in his neighborhood, walking alone about 5:30 p.m. on May 31 in the 300 block of East 220th Street "when he was viciously attacked by an unknown suspect," according to Detective Tony Avila of the sheriff's Carson Station.
Neighbors told the station they became concerned when the victim, a Navy veteran who served in the Korean War, failed to return home after going out to buy lottery tickets.

The suspect was described as Hispanic, in his 20s, with a light complexion and short curly hair. He was wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt, dark shorts and a dark baseball cap.
