Upcoming Restaurant Will Use Produce From Its Own Garden
Slay's Manhattan Beach will replace longtime favorite Darren's Restaurant, which closed Jan. 26.

MANHATTAN BEACH, CA – While the South Bay is still mourning the loss of Darren's Restaurant, which closed Jan. 26, there is something new to look forward to. Slay's Manhattan Beach, a steak and seafood restaurant, is anticipated to open in the spring, according to Eater Los Angeles.
It will be opened by the owners of longtime Orange County favorite, Park Avenue Steaks and Chips. Owner and chef David Slay will handpick produce from their O.C. restaurant's organic garden, the website reported. Slay has been using his own restaurant gardens since the early 1980s, and plans to showcase wines from his winery in Santa Barbara.
If you're still craving food from Darren's Restaurant, Chef Darren WeissNow is bringing his menu to Chelsea in Hermosa Beach starting in March. He told The Beach Reporter that his restaurant closed for multiple reasons, including increase of minimum wage, expensive rent and increases in food costs.
