Wine Auction Sells Out in 21 Hours
Here's a look at hot tickets in Manhattan Beach. P.S. Some are free.

Here are five things to know about Manhattan Beach:
1. The Manhattan Beach Education Foundation's highly anticipated annual fundraising wine auction, set for June 15th, sold out in 21 hours, according to the organization's Facebook page. Nine hundred tickets at $250 each went up for grabs at midnight Tuesday, and are all gone! You can get on the waiting list for this amazing evening of food, wine, fun, friends and fabulous auction items by emailing Tickets@ManhattanWineAuction.com.

2. Last-minute ladies (and others) who want to attend the 15th Annual 2013 Manhattan Beach Women in Business Conference, themed “Starting, Supporting, Succeeding,” taking place today at the Manhattan Beach Marriott on Friday 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. may still do so. Tickets are $180 and will be available at the door.

3. Now for a Friday freebie: The Pantoum Trio, on cello, violin and piano, plays for no charge today from 12:15-12:45 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1340 11th St., Manhattan Beach as part of the Bach's Lunch Recital series. Concert-goers are invited to have lunch with the artists after the performance. Lunch consists of sandwiches made from special-order bakery bread and farmers-market-fresh produce, and you can take your complimentary lunch with you. Donations will be accepted.
4. Free Comic Book Day rules Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at The Comic Bug, 1807 Manhattan Beach Blvd. Word is Mattel will roll out some pretty exciting new stuff (Masters of the Universe, Ghostbusters and Battlestar Galactica), the Jarritos Street Team will be pouring soda, comic book artists/writers will do free sketches and autographs, costumed super-heroes will be on the prowl, and thousands of comic books will be given away.

5. Kids ages 5 to 11 can get a free storytime in at Pages: A Bookstore, 904 Manhattan Ave., Saturday beginning at 2 p.m. when local illustrator Steve Gray reads “Farmer McPeeper’s” followed by showing those gathered how he draws the characters in the book. Kids will have a chance to draw with him, too!
