Manteca Transit adds routes, shortens wait time on key corridors (mantecabulletin.com) — Manteca Transit is rolling out longer hours, new loop routes, and extra school-focused trips starting Oct. 1, cutting waits on key corridors by 20 to 40 minutes. Expanded weekday and Saturday service, added ACE shuttles, and new transfer points aim to make buses more convenient for commuters and high school students across southeast and southwest Manteca neighborhoods.
2. San Joaquin County fire, EMS dispatch consolidates in Stockton (lodinews.com) — Fire and ambulance calls from Manteca will now be dispatched through Stockton's regional fire and EMS center as San Joaquin County consolidates to a single dispatch hub. Residents still dial 911 as usual, but Manteca Fire Department and Lathrop-Manteca Fire Protection District will operate under the expanded CENCAL system designed to streamline countywide emergency responses.
3. Manteca reduces its unsheltered homeless population by 47% (mantecabulletin.com) — Manteca officials report a 47% drop in unsheltered homelessness, crediting faith-based outreach and quality-of-life enforcement as key tools. At a special San Joaquin County forum, Manteca joined Lathrop, Lodi and Stockton in sharing strategies to better coordinate services, connect people with shelter, and build a more unified regional response to homelessness.
4. Van Groningen & Sons Combines Pumpkin Tradition with New Ideas (agnetwest.com) — A longtime Manteca farming family is blending nearly a century of pumpkin-growing tradition with new marketing ideas, from painted pumpkins to testing experimental varieties. Van Groningen & Sons also opens their operation to students and virtual field trips, helping connect local kids and regional classrooms to modern agriculture rooted right in Manteca.
