The body of Juana Marit Sandoval, 56, was discovered on Feb. 17 in a parking lot in the Del Rey area.

LOS ANGELES, CA -- The City Council approved a $50,000 reward Wednesday for information related to the killing of a woman who was found beaten to death.

The body of Juana Marit Sandoval, 56, was discovered on Feb. 17 at 7:42 p.m. in a parking lot next to a building at 4909 Marionwood Drive in the Del Rey area of Los Angeles. She had suffered injuries to the head and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Councilman Mike Bonin, who represents the Del Rey area and introduced the motion asking for the reward to be offered, spoke before the council voted.

"Neighbors described her as friendly and outgoing, and her family said it was not unusual for her to help family or people she knew were in need," Bonin said.

Sandoval's daughter, who did not give her first name, also spoke before the council voted.

"My mom was a really friendly, beautiful soul. She could light up a room in an instant," she said. "The minute she walked in the door, she would make us all laugh. So it is really hard to be up here and be in this situation, because she didn't deserve this. No one deserves this, and certainly not such a gentle, bright, funny person like our mom."

The council approved the reward with a 13-0 vote.

The council also approved a $5,000 reward for information on the hit-and- run injury of Victoria Paules near the intersection of Ventura Boulevard and Fallbrook Avenue on January 30, 2016.
