Amazing Magnesium. Why you need it!

Did you know Magnesium is a major chill pill? It makes you relax from your head down to your toes. It is very necessary for stabilizing blood pressure. Deficiencies of magnesium can lead to cardiac and blood sugar issues. 

     Magnesium is not as hip as calcium, mainly because magnesium is found in a lot of green foods, including seaweed, spinach, turnip greens, and spirulina.

     Magnesium deficiency can cause muscle weakness, tremor and spasm. It is so protective of the brain that when you run low, you are more prone to migraines, insomnia, anxiety, phobias, brain fog, depression and suicidal thoughts. Kids need it for healthy brain function.

     One study found that 95 % of kids with ADHD were deficient in Magnesium. ( many natural supplements for ADHD contain magnesium) . Our foods today are more mineral deficient, and the CAL/MAG ratio has radically changed.
Here is a list of high magnesium foods to include in your daily diet:
1. Bran(rice, wheat,oat)
2. Dried herbs( coriander,basil,chives)
3. Pumpkin seeds
4. Sunflower seeds
5. Cacao powder, dark chocolate #1 source of Magnesium!
 6. Flax, sesame seeds
7. Brazil, almonds, cashews
 8. molasses
9. Spinach
10. Halibut
11. Beans, black and white
12. Edaname
13. fruits(pineapple,banana, cherries, lemons)
My personal favorite... Dark chocolate! Yum

BANANA CACAO SMOOTHIE
Serves 1.

1 cup almond milk
1 banana, preferably frozen
1 TB. raw cacao powder
1 TB raw honey or 2-3 dates
Add ice and blend until smooth and frothy. ENJOY!
