📰 News we're reading

• Marina del Rey locals blame sewage stench on hospital construction (amedpost.com) — Marina del Rey residents are dealing with a persistent sewage-like stench they link to ongoing construction at Cedars-Sinai Marina del Rey Hospital, where an emergency sewer tank is being installed. Cedars-Sinai has paused excavation while working with LA Sanitation and air-quality regulators to address treated groundwater runoff that may be causing foul odors and murky marina water.

• Zach Wilson, Spencer Rattler attempting to solidify backup quarterback spot for New Orleans Saints (neworleanssaints.com) — New Orleans Saints coaches and quarterbacks are in Marina del Rey this week as they wrap joint practices in California before facing the Chargers at SoFi Stadium. With starters resting again, backup QBs Zach Wilson and Spencer Rattler are vying for the No. 2 role after strong preseason and joint-practice showings, while coaches finalize Saturday's rotation.

• In Memoriam: Thomas D. Rowe Jr. (ali.org) — A longtime Marina del Rey resident, legal scholar Thomas D. Rowe Jr. has died at 83, leaving a legacy that reaches far beyond the harbor. The Duke Law professor and American Law Institute leader shaped modern civil procedure, federal courts, and class-action doctrine over five decades, mentoring generations of lawyers while helping reform how courts handle complex litigation.
