Boy Rescued From Surf But Father Missing In Marina del Rey
Lifeguards pulled a little boy from the water in Marina del Rey Sunday afternoon, but the search continued for the child's missing father.
MARINA DEL REY, CA — Los Angeles County lifeguards rescued a 10-year-old boy from the surf Sunday in Marina del Rey, but the boy's father remained missing in the water hours later.
Lifeguards and Los Angeles Fire Department medical personnel received a call about missing swimmers in Marina del Rey near 4200 S. Ocean Front Walk just before 4 p.m., Los Angeles Fire Department spokeswoman Margaret Stewart said.
County lifeguards found the boy and pulled him from the water, according to Stewart. LAFD paramedics evaluated the child, who did not require hospitalization, Stewart said.

Lifeguards, assisted by the U.S. Coast Guard, were still searching the water for the boy's father, who remained missing, the Coast Guard reported.
Underwater searching for the missing man was halted at 7:30 p.m., county lifeguards said. Periodic land-based patrols will continue through the night and underwater searching will resume at 7 a.m. Monday, authorities said.
