Bungling Burglar Takes Accidental Selfie

Do you recognize this burglar, who accidentally filmed himself committing the burglary on the victim's own camera?

Authorities today sought public help to find a burglar who stole an iPhone from a Venice residence but who accidentally took a selfie video that the owner was able to access remotely, police said.

The man entered the residence on Paloma Avenue near Speedway about 7 a.m. Saturday, the Los Angeles Police Department reported.

“While inside, the suspect grabbed the victim’s iPhone and accidentally activated a video application, which clearly captured his image as he is standing in the victim’s living room,” a police statement said.

“The suspect took the iPhone and then fled through the same door,” police said. “All of this occurred while the three residents, two 15-year-old females and an adult female, slept in nearby bedrooms.”

The owner of the stolen phone accessed the video remotely and contacted police, who circulated the images.
