The Evolution of Paper & Writing in China

Come to the Playa Vista Branch Library for the evolution of paper and writing in China. Susan Olsen will share her studies on the origins and development of papermaking in the place of its birth, China. The “show” will consist of a presentation on the early origins beginning in neolithic times and coursing through the flowering of calligraphy, the book, painting and printing in first millennium. This program will be followed by a demonstration of the artist’s unique papermaking process, which has roots in ancient China. The process is a beacon of sustainablility.
