Explosives Alert Triggers Evacuation at LAX

UPDATED: Airport police say an LAPD bomb squad has determined that a suspicious package that prompted the evacuation of the Southwest Airlines Cargo facility in the 5700 block of Century Boulevard near Los Angeles International Airport contained only medical equipment and tubing.

Staff are being allowed back into the building.

An LAPD bomb squad unit was called to examine a package at a Southwest Air Cargo facility at Los Angeles International Airport after an explosive trace detection scanner registered an alert, according to airport police.

The building had been evacuated but no flight delays have resulted, police say.
