Faculty Pub Night: Damon Willick, curator of Valley Vista: Art in the San Fernando Valley, ca. 1970-1990, with Antoine Wilson, author of Panorama City.
The first Pub Night of Fall 2014 features Damon Willick, Associate Professor of Art History
Damon Willick’s book Valley Vista: Art in the San Fernando Valley, ca. 1970-1990 seeks to remedy this oversight by examining for the first time the unique contribution of the Valley to the city’s art history. The book accompanies an exhibition on display at California State University, Northridge Art Gallery from August 25 through October 11. Willick’s work looks beyond the stereotypes, and, instead, offers an alternative narrative documenting the region’s unrecognized yet unique and substantial role in LA’s emergence as a center of contemporary art activity.
At this event, Professor Willick will discuss the uniqueness of Valley culture and art with Antione Wilson, author of the critically acclaimed novel Panorama City.
All Pub Nights are free and open to the public. Pub refreshments and snacks will be served, and copies of the Valley Vista exhibition catalog and Panorama City will be available for sale and signing.
