#GivingTuesday is here. Local Option for Environment in MDR

Give to help grow healthy fish in Marina Del Rey. One of the best options for giving locally on this upcoming #GivingTuesday event.

Decided to give this Tuesday? Great! Look at this onetime need that will go straight to returning the Marina Del Rey White Seabass Pens to operation so they can get back to releasing healthy fish into the bay.

The fishing club that runs the pens is a 501c-3 charity and all the money goes to the project. No overhead or advertising budget. It is a great payback to the environment. White seabass are recovering from years of over-fishing from near shore gill nets that are now banned from the area. This program gets its baby fish from the Hubbs-Seaworld hatchery in Carlsbad. That is funded by the OREHP program of the DFW. But all the local hatchery supplied pens are on their own to fund raise and do the important task of raising the fish to release size.

They arrive as small fry sized baby fish and are fed, cared for and protected by the volunteers of Marina Del Rey Anglers until they are 12 to 14 inches long. The Pen Pals that tend the pen are like a foster home parents watching out for their health every day that they are in their care.

This Rebuild request is important. The two pens are supported by floating docks that need maintenance and restoration to keep up this work. Please help financially or any other way you can.
