LGBT Group Endorses Hahn

Long Beach Lambda—the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Democratic Club—has endorsed Janice Hahn in her bid to represent the 36th Congressional District, which includes includes Marina del Rey, Playa del Rey and Del Rey.

Hahn was on hand at the organization’s general meeting Tuesday night to , which took place at the First Congregational Church in downtown Long Beach.

In a statement released by Hahn’s campaign office, Hahn said, “We shouldn’t have to live in a [world] where we have to choose between good jobs and clean air. ”

First District Councilman Robert Garcia also attended the meeting and said, “This is the woman we need in Congress who will fight for the South Bay and keep alive the progress our city has made in the fight for marriage equality.” 

Currently, the only other candidate seeking the office that will be left vacant when  steps down on Feb. 28 is California Secretary of State . 

Long Beach Lambda said it also invited Bowen to Tuesday night’s meeting to seek the group’s endorsement, but Bowen’s campaign office did not respond to the invitation.
