My Marina Adventure #3: Stepping up to SUP

If you’ve been out on the water anytime this past year (or have flipped through an issue of Self), you may have noticed a little activity called Stand Up Paddleboarding (aka SUP) making waves amongst the fitness circuit. Celebs like Jennifer Aniston and Matthew McConaughey have been known to SUP and with benefits like increasing core strength and being a full body workout, it’s no wonder that the paddleboard has exploded in popularity as a coveted accessory for exercise lovers.

Because of its gentle waters and calm surface, Marina del Rey is the perfect place to hop on a paddleboard, and its frequency of SUP’ers attests to that. On any given day, you can see paddlers gliding on the Marina channel with such ease (and great posture) as they burn off calories amidst sunshine and views of luxury yachts and playful sea lions. Every time I see SUP in action two thoughts cross my mind: a) it looks SO easy, and b) I must try it soon. Which brings us to My Marina Adventure #3!
