Police Arrest Teen Suspected in Skateboarder Mob Attack on Woman in Venice

Dozens witnessed a mob attack in which a teenage girl was cracked over the head with a skateboard.

An 18-year-old man suspected of assaulting a woman with a skateboard in Venice was released on bail, authorities said today. The assault by a mob of skatebaorders was captured on video, which shows dozens of bystanders, none of whom attempted to aid the victim as multiple assailants brutally beat her.

“It’s hard to believe that no one stepped in,” Laura Lee, a friend of the woman who recorded the attack told KCAL 9. “It’s haunting. It’s really, really disturbing.”

Charles Rayner was arrested in the Venice Beach area around 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Los Angeles Police Department Officer Sara Faden said.
