Powers Back for 700 Customers in Playa del Rey

Strong winds overnight knocked down power lines, blackening out street lights as well as traffic signals.

PLAYA DEL REY, CA - About 700 Playa del Rey customers had their electricity restored overnight after losing power because of downed power lines, authorities said Monday.

The power outage began around 5:45 p.m. Sunday, when lines were downed in the 8100 block of Pershing Drive, the Los Angeles Police Department reported.

The outage also blacked out street lights and traffic signals.

Crews restored electrical service late Sunday night, according to the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power.
