Search Resumes for Boater Missing in Deadly Crash

Rescue crews will continue to search today for a boater who went missing in a dingy crash that killed the son of a former 49ers president.

The search for a boater who went missing after two vessels collided off Santa Catalina Island, killing one man and injuring three other people, will resume this morning, a sheriff’s deputy said.

It’s the fifth day since the accident and the sheriff department’s Special Enforcement Bureau will again send out its Marina del Rey boat team, underwater remotely operated vehicles, dive teams with the Port Police Department and deputies using sonar equipment, said a deputy at the sheriff’s Avalon station.

Family members identified the man who was killed as 26-year-old Michael Harris of San Francisco, a former student at the University of San Diego and son of Peter Harris, who was the 49ers’ president and CEO from 2000 to 2004.
