St. Bernard Girls Earn Top Seed
The girls basketball team is seeded No. 1; boys No. 2 in the CIF playoffs.

Playing in the Del Rey League was not easy, but now the St. Bernard High girls' basketball team is reaping the reward. Judging the Vikings by their record (13-13 overall and 4-4 in league ) would be a mistake because all season l0ng they have played teams in higher playoff divisions.
Now, St. Bernard is the top dog. On Saturday, the CIF office released its playoff brackets and the Vikings were seeded No. 1 out of 32 teams in Division 5AA. St. Bernard will host Frazier Mountain in the first round Thursday at 7 p.m. The winner will take on either Lancaster Paraclete or No. 16 Louisville of Woodland Hills in the second round Saturday.
The St. Bernard boys breezed to the Camino Real League title and their reward was the No. 2 seed in Division 5A. The Vikings (19-7) carry a 12-game winning streak into Wednesday night's first-round home game against Claremont Webb. Tip-off is at 7 p.m. If the Vikings prevail they will play either No. 16 Long Beach St. Anthony or California Military in the second round Friday.
