Postseason Honors for Players from St. Bernard in Playa del Rey

Twelve Vikings are voted to the All-Del Rey League football team; Smith is the MVP.

It was a remarkable turnaround season for the varsity football team under its first-year coach and now many Vikings players are being recognized for their contributions.

Quarterback was named Most Valuable Player of the Del Rey League and fellow senior was voted Most Valuable Lineman. Vikings joining them on the first team are senior wide receiver/defensive back , junior wide receiver , senior running back and junior running back/receiver , junior defensive back and junior wide receiver .

Making the second team from St. Bernard were junior linebacker , senior offensive lineman, sophomore linebacker and junior offensive lineman .

Smith completed 212 of 324 passes for 3,449 yards, 39 touchdowns and six interceptions and Barnes rushed for 1,053 yards and 13 touchdowns, Singleton had 79 tackles and five interceptions, Hill had 62 catches for 1,190 yards and 11 touchdowns, Dobson caught 27 passes for 615 yards and 12 touchdowns, Mack caught 58 passes for 856 yards and 10 touchdowns and Hughes had 48 tackles as St. Bernard (10-1) knocked off Bishop Montgomery to win the league title before falling to South Torrance in the first round of the of the CIF Southern Section Northwest Division playoffs. 

Corey Collins of Cantwell Sacred Heart was named Most Valuable Offensive Player and Patrick Friedman of Bishop Montgomery was selected Most Valuable Defensive Player.

Rounding out the first team are kicker Jonathan Kim, linebacker Michael Romero, free safety Danny Herrera, running back Michael Turner, offensive lineman Ben Villa and defensive lineman Kyle Collins of Bishop Montgomery; quarterback/free safety Timothy Walsh, linebacker/tight end Francisco Gutierrez and receiver/ defensive backs Jacob Alaniz and Adam Aguirre of Cantwell Sacred Heart; linebacker Adam Uballez, receiver/cornerback CJ Alvarez and running back Johnathan Silvas of Don Bosco Tech; and running back/defensive back Anthony Charles of Verbum Dei.
