St. Bernard Players Make All-League Squads

Brandon Randolph is boys' MVP; Lajahna Drummer is named to girls' first team.

Given that the boys and girls basketball teams each made the state finals it's no surprise that both had players selected to their respective All-League teams. 

For the boys, St. Bernard sophomore guard was named Most Valuable Player of the Camino Real League after leading the Vikings with 18.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 1.1 steals per game. 

Joining Randolph on the All-League first team are teammates and . A a senior guard-forward, Thomas averaged 15.7 points and 5.2 rebounds per game this season while Mbelu, a senior forward, averaged 3.9 points and 4.3 rebounds.

Rounding out the first team are Adam Aguirre of Cantwell; Emiliano Mejia and Matt Santos of Bosco Tech, James Nora of Mary Star, Brandon Hualde, Anthony Palmieri and Troy Whiteto of St. Monica and Paul Telles of St. Paul.

Vikings senior guard (3.4 points per game), junior guard (5.1 points, 1.8 assists per game) and junior forward (7.9 points, 6.0 rebounds) made the second team along with Jacob Alaniz of Cantwell, Josh Espinoza and Elijah Yanit of Bosco Tech; Carlos Mitchell and Anthony Myers of Mary Star, Andrew Castro and Nick Chaidez of St. Monica and Josiah Corona and Andrew Garcia of St. Paul.

For the girls, St. Bernard freshman center made the All-Del Rey League first team--the only Vikings player selected. She was joined on the squad by Most Valuable Player Andrea Villanueva, Vianai Austin and Leticia Galarza of Bishop Amat, Chelsey Aaron, Kristen Ale and Devon Brookshire of Bishop Montgomery, Bria Richardson and Rejane Verin of Serra and Marissa Rendon of St. Paul.

Drummer averaged 17.3 points, 11.9 rebounds, 3.3 blocks, 2.3 steals and 1.5 assists per game this season.

Surprisingly, no Vikings made the All-League second team.
