Summer Concert Series Returns to Marina del Rey

Summer is around the corner, and Marina del Rey's Summer Concert Series promises not to disappoint even the most sophisticated musical palates.

The free concerts are scheduled to begin in July with classical concerts on alternating Thursdays and pop artists every other Saturday at Burton W. Chace Park.

Music director Frank Fetta will conduct the Marina del Rey Summer Symphony.

Billy Ocean will kick off the "Pop Saturdays" series with his performance on July 20 followed by Taylor Dayne, Poncho Sanchez and Rose Royce who are all scheduled to perform in August. The classical concerts, "Symphonic Thursdays," are scheduled to begin on July 11.

The sponsors of the Marina del Rey Summer Concerts include: The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors, the Los Angeles County Department of Beaches and Harbors, the Ritz-Carlton Marina del Rey and KUSC.
