Toy Grenade Causes Evacuation of Marina Del Rey Neighborhood
Police evacuated a residential neighborhood where a grenade was reported in the gutter, but it turned out to be a toy.

What turned out to be a toy grenade caused a scare in Marina del Rey, authorities said today.
Deputies were called just after 10 p.m. Friday to the 5100 block of Marvale Drive, where homeowners moving into a residence found what appeared to be a grenade with its pin intact near the curb in front of their home, said Sgt. Diane Hecht of the Sheriff’s Information Bureau.
The immediate area was evacuated before investigators with the Sheriff’s Arson/Explosive Detail arrived and determined the item was toy replica containing no explosives, Hecht said.
