'Two Guys And A Girl Bandits' Rob South Bay Banks

A trio nicknamed the “Two Guys And A Girl Bandits” apparently continued a string of bank robberies in the South Bay, as police say a group matching that description robbed a Torrance bank this weekend.

The robbers displayed handguns and concealed their faces with nylon stockings as they added a Torrance branch of the Wells Fargo Bank to at least two other bank robberies committed by the trio, said Torrance police Sgt. Robert Watt.

In their latest act, about 2:54 p.m. Saturday, they entered the bank at 4340 W. Artesia Blvd., and demanded cash from all of the tellers. They fled the location in a gray-colored, sedan-type vehicle, southbound through the parking lot, Watt said. No one was injured, the amount of money taken was not disclosed.

This was similar to the Dec. 30 holdup of the CalCom Federal Credit Union at Hawthorne Boulevard and Emerald Avenue, the police sergeant said.

They may have also committed a similar-style bank robbery during a violent takeover attack Dec. 12 at a Wells Fargo in Rancho Palos Verdes at 28350 S. Western Ave.

Although it first appeared that the robbers were three men, FBI agent said one robbery was female in those crimes, the Daily Breeze reported.

Watt said it was hard to determine a gender in the latest robbery, because the culprits had concealed their upper bodies.
