Pacheco Fire Burns 17 Acres In Martinez
The wildfire broke out Thursday afternoon in the 4105 block of Pacheco Boulevard and threatened structures, according to Con Fire.
MARTINEZ, CA — An overwhelming response by firefighters quickly slowed the forward progress of a three-alarm vegetation fire that threatened structures Thursday afternoon in Martinez, the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District said.
The Pacheco Fire was reported around 3:45 p.m. Thursday in the 4105 block of Pacheco Boulevard, near Las Juntas Elementary School.
With the assistance of Cal Fire and the Contra County County Sheriff's Office, crews continued to battle the blaze from the ground and from the air, Con Fire said on Twitter at 5:04 p.m.

"Structure protection has been successful and no evacuations anticipated at this time," Con Fire said.
By 6:15 p.m, the grass fire was contained at approximately 17 acres.

"Numerous hot spots require extensive mop up, into evening," Con Fire officials said. "Expect delays in area because of hoses on roads. Investigators determined fire began in or near homeless encampment. Investigation continues."
