Camry Driver Who Died In Hwy 4 Crash Identified

BREAKING: The solo-vehicle crash happened early Sunday in Martinez, according to the California Highway Patrol, Contra Costa Area.

CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CA -- UPDATED: The Contra Costa County coroner's office identified a 41-year-old man who died in a solo-vehicle collision early Sunday on Highway 4 in Martinez as Belmont resident Jiwon Kim. According to the California Highway Patrol, Kim was driving a white 2011 Toyota Camry on Highway 4 just east of Alhambra Avenue around 4 a.m. when his car appeared to have veered off the north side of the roadway and directly into a tree.

The San Mateo County man, who was initially identified by the CHP as a Richmond resident, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.

CHP said no other cars were involved in the collision. Neither alcohol nor drugs appeared to have played a part in the crash, but the incident is still under investigation, CHP said.
