Celebrate Native American Day with the Contra Costa County Historical Society!
Do you love history? Join us Saturday Sept 24 to hear author Dean McLeod talk about the County's first inhabitants - the Native Americans.

Join the Contra Costa County Historical Society in honoring the culture and heritage of Contra Costa County's first human inhabitants - the Native Americans. Author Dean McLeod will talk about his research on one of the County's first people - the Chupcan tribe.
Did you know? The land across the street from the Willow Pass Community Center is where the Chupcans built a village and lived for hundreds and possibly thousands of years. The Chupcans, a tribelet of the Bay Miwok Indians, are known to have inhabited Diablo Valley likely from Clayton to Pacheco.
Dean's talk will conclude with a walk across the street from the Community Center to see the tree line that marks the former stream where the village once stood.
