CHP Announces Checkpoint In Martinez Area

BREAKING: California Highway Patrol Contra Costa Area will be checking for impaired drivers and other offenses, according to a news release.

MARTINEZ, CA – The Contra Costa Area office of the California Highway Patrol announced it will be conducting a sobriety checkpoint Friday in an unincorporated area of Martinez. The checkpoint will be conducted from 9 p.m. Friday, Aug. 25 until 3 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 26, according to a news release.

"Traffic volume permitting, all vehicles will be checked, and drivers who are under the influences of alcohol and/or drugs can expect to be arrested," CHP Officer Brandon Correia stated. "In addition, officers will conduct driver’s license checks on motorists stopped at the checkpoint."

The checkpoint is part of the “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaign, funding for which was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, according to Correia.
