CoCo Sheriff Accepting Applications For Fall 2022 Citizens' Academy

The deadline to submit applications is approaching. Here's what to know.

CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CA — Contra Costa County Office of the Sheriff is now accepting applications for its Fall 2022 Citizens' Academy.

The six-week academy takes place in Martinez and provides community members with an inside look at the Office of the Sheriff and its mission, duties, responsibilities and services.

The Citizens' Academy kicks off Thursday, Sept. 22, and the deadline to submit applications is this Friday, Sept. 2. Classes meet from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Thursdays for six consecutive weeks, with one Saturday session scheduled for 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Oct. 15.

To participate in the Citizens' Academy, one must:

  • Live in Contra Costa County;
  • Be 18 years of age;
  • Have a valid form of identification;
  • Have no pending criminal cases or outstanding warrants for your arrest; and
  • Have no felony convictions anywhere, and or no misdemeanor arrests in the past 12 months.
Applications can be accessed through the Cocosheriff.org website under the Community Services/Crime Prevention Unit. Here is a link to the application. Completed applications should be submitted via email to csu@so.cccounty.us.
