Contra Costa Man Killed In Suspected DUI-Related Crash

The accident was Saturday outside San Ramon's city limits, with witnesses reporting possible reckless driving, the CHP said.

CONCORD, CA — A Concord man was killed in a possible alcohol-related crash Saturday afternoon, just south of the San Ramon city limits on Crow Canyon Road, officials said.

Liupua M. Talivaa, 36, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the California Highway Patrol's Castro Valley unit.

Another driver from Walnut Creek was seriously injured in the collision and taken to Kaiser Permanente Walnut Creek Medical Center with injuries deemed non-life-threatening, the CHP said.

The crash occurred along Crow Canyon, south of Bollinger Canyon Road.

Witnesses said they saw Talivaa driving recklessly and cross over the double yellow lines into the southbound lanes of Crow Canyon, where he struck the Walnut Creek driver head-on, according to the CHP.
