Escaped Inmate Still On The Lam

The 29-year-old Rodeo resident took off on foot Friday from the Martinez Detention Facility. [Breaking]

MARTINEZ, CA – A woman who escaped police custody Friday at a jail in Martinez remains at large today, according to San Pablo police.

San Pablo police were dropping off 29-year-old Rodeo resident Nyilah Hutcherson at the Martinez Detention Facility when she fled.

Police said that a search by foot, car, and air ensued, but was called off a few hours later because of the nonviolent nature of Hutcherson's original alleged crimes. More details about the crimes were not immediately released.

Hutcherson is said to be 5 foot 7 inches tall and 120 pounds, and was last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, a white T-shirt, and black pants. She was handcuffed when she escaped custody.

Police said she is not considered a threat to the community.
