The Martinez Boys and Girls Club is the backdrop to some fierce basketball games this week, between teams of third graders from local schools. First up is the Morello Park Crazies vs. Las Juntas, then at 8:30 p.m. the John Muir Timberwolves vs. John Swett. This is the fourth in a series of six games that will culminate with a championship tournament, participants to be determined, on Feb. 11.
The next regular games are Jan. 28 and Feb. 4.
The Boys and Girls Club is downtown. Directions: Come down Alhambra Ave. towards down town, stay in the right hand lane, pass Safeway, the Hospital, and the fire station. The club is on right, between Jones and Henrietta Streets, just before City Hall and the Martinez Police Dept.
