Fireworks Keep East Bay Crews Busy With Numerous Brush Fires

Crews in the East Bay had their hands full all day Monday into the night as fireworks were blamed for starting a number of vegetation fires.

The Contra Costa Fire Protection District tweeted at around 10:15 p.m. that firefighters were currently responding to nine different fires across the East Bay, with 11 fire in the 9 p.m. hour alone.

Authorities said of those nine fires, three were known to have been caused by fireworks. The cause had yet to be determined for another six fires, but fireworks could not be ruled out as a possible cause.
