Martinez School Board To Fill Vacancy Left By Gordon Resignation
Board will appoint a trustee to fill the rest of the Gordon's term

The Martinez Unified School District board will appoint a new member to fill the vacancy left by the resignation of longtime member Vicki Gordon.
School district administrators said the board will interview candidates and make the appointment next month. The new trustee will finish out Gordon's term, which lasts until November 2014.
To qualify, a candidate must a registered voter living within the district at the time of the appointment.

Those wishing to apply must do so by Jan. 3. An informational meeting for candidates will be held on Jan. 9.

Gordon is leaving the school board because she won a seat last month on the Contra Costa Community College District board.
Gordon, a former Martinez Junior High teacher, had been on the board since 1997.
