Due to the Pandemic, the Martinez Senior Center was not able to hold its Annual Holiday Luncheon. However, knowing the holidays look very different for many (especially our seniors), City staff knew it was important to offer something. Therefore, on Friday, December 18th, the Martinez Senior Center held a Drive-Thru Holiday Luncheon. All 80 of the participants still enjoyed a luncheon – just this time it was outside and in the comfort of their own cars. City staff collaborated with outside organizations such as Alhambra Convalescent, Golden Years Placement Agency, and The Kensington who donated items for gifts. Each participant received a catered boxed lunch from Panera in which the Senior Citizens Club of Martinez helped cover the expenses. The event ended up being a huge success and more events like this will be offered in the New Year.
