Murder Suspect Enters Plea Today
The victim was found lying in the doorway of a home in Bay Point last August.

An Antioch man accused of killing a Bay Point resident last August pleaded not guilty in Contra Costa County Superior Court in Martinez today, according to a prosecutor.
Khalil Hardy was 19 when he was arrested on suspicion of murder for the Aug. 8 shooting of 25-year-old Paul Chambers. Chambers was found lying in the doorway of a residence in the 2200 block of Placer Driver in Bay Point around 10:30 p.m. after a caller reported hearing shots fired in the area, according to Contra Costa County sheriff’s officials.
He was taken to a hospital, where he was declared dead.

Deputy District Attorney Jun Fernandez said it took some time for detectives to investigate the case. Particularly, Fernandez said investigators were trying to find a witness who could identify Hardy. “We did get it,” Fernandez said. “It took some time though.”
Fernandez said it isn’t uncommon for investigators to spend upwards of six months looking into a case before they are able to file the full investigation report.
