Pedestrian Suffers Major Injuries After Being Hit By Car In Antioch

An Antioch woman suffered major injuries when she was struck by a vehicle Monday night in Antioch, police say.

CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CA -- An Antioch woman suffered major injuries when she was struck by a vehicle Monday night in Antioch, police said.

At 8:38 p.m. on April 3, police received a call about a vehicle collision involving a pedestrian at the intersection of Buchanan Road and the entrance to the Buchanan Crossings shopping center.

According to police, a 46-year-old woman from Antioch was crossing Buchanan Road against a red signal light when she was struck by a vehicle traveling west on the same road. The woman was transported to a hospital with major injuries to her lower extremities. She's expected to survive.

The driver of the vehicle remained on the scene and was cooperative with investigators. Drugs and alcohol did not appear to be factors in the collision, police said.
