Police ID Driver Who Allegedly Struck, Injured Pedestrian In Martinez

The victim is in stable condition.

A woman who was struck by an alleged drunk driver in a hit-and-run collision on Sunday in Martinez is in stable condition today, police said.

As of this afternoon, a physician told police the woman’s injuries do not appear to be life-threatening, Martinez police Cpl. Michael Estanol said. Estanol said the woman suffered “a lot of abrasions and bruising,” and physicians were concerned she might have a head injury.

“She’ll be in the hospital for a couple of days,” Estanol said, adding that her actual recovery time could be much longer.

Police said witnesses followed the suspect -- later identified as 45-year-old Martinez resident Michelle Cleveger -- and alerted police to her location.
