Police Say Teen Found Early Friday Near School Was Not Attacked
Authorities said they have ruled out a violent attack in the death of a 17-year-old girl found overnight near an Antioch school.
ANTIOCH, CA — Authorities said they have ruled out a violent attack in the death of a 17-year-old girl discovered early Friday morning on an Antioch roadway.
The Contra Costa County Coroner’s Office said over the weekend that the girl, identified as Jeana Flores, was struck by a vehicle.
Authorities reclassified the case as a fatal hit-and-run, with the Antioch Police Department’s Traffic Safety Unit leading the investigation.

Jeana’s body was discovered around 3:33 a.m. Friday in the area of L Street, between West 18th and West 10th streets, police said. Authorities initially did not release her identity and confirmed only that she was not a student in the Antioch Unified School District.
In a statement, police said evidence gathered by investigators and the coroner’s determination led to the conclusion that Jeana was struck by a vehicle. Authorities have not yet released information as a suspect..

Joseph Flores told KTVU that his daughter was last seen Thursday night at a family friend’s home. According to him, Jeana left the home shortly after 9 p.m. to walk back, and her body was later found around 3:33 a.m. Friday, according to reports.
Joseph Flores described his daughter as funny, bubbly, and strong-willed. He told KTVU that Jeana was fierce, witty, and had a good heart.
