MARTINEZ, CA -- A fire started by a malfunctioning swimming pool pump was extinguished tonight before it could spread to an adjoining pool deck, a Contra Costa County Fire Protection District official said.
Firefighters were called at 5:34 p.m. to a house at 4649 Tahoe Drive, near Nancy Boyd Park, where the pool pump was burning.
Firefighters were at the home about a half hour putting out the fire before it spread to the wooden deck, said Fire Protection Capt. Steven Aubert.
