“Jeffrey Halford can charm both storms and sunshine with his guitar...Rainmaker gets small enough to tuck in the memories of the “Thunderbird Motel” over a folk-blues reverie and has enough strength to push the fog away from the swamp rhythm that welcomes in the title track.” THE ALTERNATE ROOT
“With a string of fine blues-rock albums, Jeffrey Halford and the Healers reflects the kind of musical fortitude and collaboration that brings to mind the likes of Michael Blomberg, Al Kooper, and Barry Goldberg. Their latest album, Rainmaker, is as well-produced and realized American roots album as you’re likely to hear this year. It’s an album that should give Nashville and Austin reason to take notice with its originality and inspired consistency.”
NO DEPRESSION
“On Rainmaker, the latest project from this California resident by way of the Lone Star State, it’s all about the struggles that we as humans face, such as the story song “Joaquin”, which resonates with a depth of humanity. It’s not all lyrical genius here, as the band can cook instrumentally, as well. Take a listen to a soaring cut like “North Beach” or “Vinyl,” and try not to be impressed.”
More About Jeffrey Halford & the Healers
Jeffrey Halford and the Healers have just released their long-awaited new album Rainmaker (Shoeless Records). “This album is greasy organic with tube amplifier screaming under a low hum shag carpet, with the walls shakin’ behind the words falling down the plaster,” states Halford.
Halford is one of the premier purveyors of rootsy, bluesy rock ‘n roll (Americana), with a pop sensibility. RAINMAKER is Halford’s seventh full-length album release and is the follow-up to 2008’s critically- acclaimedBroken Chord (which climbed to #7 on the Americana charts in the USA and Europe). On RAINMAKER Jeffrey demonstrates that both he and the band have aged like a fine Northern California wine. The recording showcases the best of Halford’s songwriting and his distinctive guitar, complimented by the crafted rumble of his band.
